OxImager™
Management of Acute and Chronic Wounds
Most complications in wounds result from a lack of proper blood supply and drainage to local tissues (capillary bed) leading to tissue necrosis and eventual death. Reconstructive flap surgery is a clinical procedure wherein proper blood perfusion is critical to its successful outcome. In addition, diabetic ulcers and pressure sores are cutaneous wounds that will not heal under normal circumstances due to hypoxic conditions from poor circulation. Medical professionals lack a reliable tool to rapidly and reliably determine the health status of a tissue is a clinically significant hurdle that impacts patient management. Currently, management of wounds, skin grafts and tissue flaps for reconstructive purposes relies primarily on clinical impression, which is highly subjective. While a number of technological approaches for making informed clinical decisions exist, there not a robust, intuitive (quantitative) monitoring device that allows doctors to intervene before a region of compromised tissue becomes unsalvageable.
Product Offering - OxImager™
The first product of Introspective Medical Inc. is the OxImager™, to denote its capability of capturing and presenting oxygenation map of tissues. OxImager™ will eliminate the subjectivity for doctors diagnosing a tissue’s condition. By accurately knowing what areas of tissue are healthy during surgery or in the Intensive Care Units (ICU), doctors may intervene and perform more timely procedures to avoid permanent tissue damage. Benefits include reducing unnecessary wound care procedures such as amputations in diabetic and trauma patients, and skin grafting in burn patients. Economically, OxImager™ will reduce hospital costs by eliminating unnecessary additional hospital days for these patients.
OxImager™ will provide doctors and patients with the following benefits:
- A non-invasive, non-contact measurement
- Non-harmful, non-ionizing light, which eliminates radiation risks
- Accurate identification of poorly oxygenated tissue
- Real-time monitoring of tissue oxygen saturation
Comprehensive Technical Features
OxImager™ is the only technology to provide a comprehensive range of technical features in a single device:
Cost Advantage
OxImager™ will reduce costs to insurance companies and hospitals by improving the efficacy of wound care management, thus eliminating additional procedures with commensurate reduction in average hospital stays.
